Alexander Macris has joined Oliasoft as Vice President for the Americas and will head up Oliasoft’s activities in the US, Mexico and Brazil. Alex, Andrè and Jim have toured Houston during the last week and met representatives from BP, ConocoPhillips, Apache, GE/Baker Hughes and Anadarko.
Bio

Alex comes from the position of Senior Vice President of Games at Defy Media, which includes AddictingGames, The Escapist, GameFront, GameTrailers, and Shockwave. Before that, he co-founded The Escapist in 2005, which was acquired in November 2012. Prior to the acquisition he served as CEO of Themis Media, The Escapist’s parent company.
Under his management, The Escapist was named one of Time Magazine’s 2011 Top 50 Websites. The Escapist has also earned three Webby Awards for Best Game Related Website, two People’s Voice Award for Best Game Related Website, a People’s Voice Award for Best Lifestyle Website, and a Mashable Award for Best Online Magazine. Additionally Themis was a 2010 CED North Carolina Company to Watch and 2006 Top 35 Wall Street Journal Winning Workplace recipient.
During his career he designed the hit browser game Heroes Mini (winner, Best Promotional Web Game, 2006 MI6 Award) as well as 3 other browser games; concepted and edited the “MMORPGs for Dummies” book; consulted on more than 40 new media marketing campaigns; and published a series of research reports on the game industry. He is also co-founder and manager of Autarch, a tabletop game publisher, which released its first product, “Adventurer Conqueror King,” in January 2012.
For this work, he was a 2010 Business Leader Mover & Shaker, a 2011 Business Leader Top 50 Entrepreneur, and a 2011 Top of the Triangle executive. He is a graduate magna cum laude of Harvard Law School (2000) and summa cum laude of Binghamton University with a B.A. in History.
