We are excited to introduce you to our student interns for the summer of 2019! Elsie, Halvor, Kristian, Martine and Selena will spend the next five to eight weeks together with us at our office, learning and working together on significant and meaningful tasks important to Oliasoft. We have asked each of them some questions so that you can get to know them better.
Elsie Backen Tandberg

In which ways do you get to apply and develop your skills during this internship?
As an intern at Oliasoft, I am applying my skills from university every day. I would say that my programming skills are what I use and develop the most. This is because every problem that we solve mathematically, we are also writing in code. To be able to do so, I have to learn new programming skills all the time but also fully understand the math behind it, and that is why I am learning so much.
What has been the best part of working here so far?
I love getting to know new people especially the other summer interns. We all share an office and are working closely together, which is a lot of fun.

Why did you choose to spend your summer here at Oliasoft?
I wanted to work for Oliasoft because they offered challenges within the fields of applied physics and mathematics. When I am done with my master’s degree next year I will have to make a choice between continuing with theoretical physics in academia or transitioning to applied physics and the world of business. Working here is a great way for me to get familiar with the latter. I also like that Oliasoft is a relatively small company. The work that I do here will therefore be significant.
What are you most excited about the upcoming weeks?
I am looking forward to seeing the work that I have done getting implemented into the Oliasoft application. Then I can fully feel the results of my contribution to the company.

What are you hoping to get out of this internship?
I hope that I can take with me this experience through my the studies and further in to my future. Working here this summer will give me an insight of how it is to work as an developer and it will give me a opportunity to find out if this is something i really want to do
What are you most excited about the upcoming weeks?
I am looking forward to see all I have accomplished and how much I have developed myself since the first few weeks. I am also looking forward to make some new friends in this company.

Why did you choose to spend your summer here at Oliasoft?
I wanted to get familiar with the life in a startup. We have all heard rumors about the playful, fast-paced culture in young tech companies in general, and I wanted to experience this on my own. I was attracted to Oliasoft in particular because I found their software interesting and innovative.
What has been the best part of working here so far?
One thing I have been enjoying at Oliasoft so far, is all the friendly people working here. When we all gather for lunch in the cafeteria, its always a good time. As of my working experience at Oliasoft, I have been very much enyoing the freedom we are given, allowing us to do our tasks independently and in our own way.

Why did you choose to spend your summer here at Oliasoft?
I chose to spend my summer at Oliasoft, as I had a great experience interning here last year. Additionally, working here is a great opportunity for me to develop my skills even further and gain valuable work experience.
In which ways do you get to apply and develop your skills during this internship?
As my degree programme covers both business and technology, Oliasoft seems like the perfect match. Working in a startup like Oliasoft, has provided me with the opportunity to develop the skills I’m obtaining at university, in a more practical way.
